At the Workbench

At the workbench, all works from Lofoten Jewelry are created.

I work with classic silversmithing techniques such as sawing, hammering, soldering and surface finishing. Each piece of jewelry is shaped step by step by hand. There is no mass production and no shortcuts.

Sand casting of silver

Some of the works are created through sand casting. Molten silver is poured into sand molds where the structure and surface are formed directly during the casting process.

This technique creates organic shapes and natural variations. Each cast part is further processed by hand before being incorporated into a finished piece of jewelry.

Enamel work

Selected works are made with enamel. Enamel is glass that is fused onto the silver surface at high temperature.

Enameling requires precision and experience, as color, temperature and firing time affect the result. Small variations in color and surface are a natural part of the technique and give each piece of jewelry its own unique expression.

Material, time and quality

Silver reacts to pressure, heat and movement. Tool marks, small irregularities and variations are not hidden, but are part of the finished work.

Time is a crucial factor at the workbench. Many works are developed over several days, allowing the shape and surface to grow gradually. This provides balance, durability and longevity.
